Sodick Europe

As we enter the final third of the year, Sodick Europe is proud to announce that 2025 has been the company’s best trading year to date.

Sales have not only returned to pre-COVID levels but are now on track for further increases, driven by strong demand in the aerospace and defence sectors. Among the areas seeing the greatest growth, Sodick EDM machines are increasingly being used in blade and vane manufacture, where both precision and efficiency are critical.

“It’s been a brilliant period for us,” said Peter Capp, CEO of Sodick Europe. “Companies are increasingly looking for more efficient machining options, and with Sodick’s linear drive motor technology, businesses can achieve incredible tolerances throughout the lifetime of the machine. Unlike ballscrew systems, which inevitably suffer wear and require more maintenance, our linear motor technology offers unmatched long-term performance and reliability.”

Performance has been strong across the region, with the UK, Italy, Germany, and Turkey all reporting excellent results in 2025.

With EMO Hannover just around the corner, Sodick Europe is preparing to unveil new automation options alongside its advanced EDM portfolio.

“There’s so much to be excited about as we head into the last third of the year,” Peter added. “EMO will be a fantastic platform to show customers what’s next – both in EDM and in automation.”

Strengthening the Future: Acquisition of Prima Additive

In a further milestone for the company, Sodick Co., Ltd. has completed the acquisition of a majority stake in Prima Additive, finalising its separation from the Prima Industrie Group. From May 9th, the business will operate under its new brand name: “Prima Additive by Sodick.”

Prima Additive is a leader in metal additive manufacturing, offering turnkey solutions in Laser Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) and Direct Energy Deposition (DED) technologies, as well as advanced laser processes such as remote laser welding for e-mobility and laser surface treatment for tooling and industrial components.

“Prima Additive is a fantastic fit for Sodick,” Peter commented. “Their expertise in additive manufacturing complements Sodick’s EDM and high-precision machining portfolio perfectly. Together, we’ll be able to provide customers with a broader spectrum of advanced manufacturing technologies, combining precision machining and additive processes under one roof.”

Looking Ahead

2025 has already been a landmark year for Sodick Europe – with record sales, strengthened regional performance, and an exciting new chapter through the integration of Prima Additive by Sodick.

With EMO Hannover 2025 fast approaching, customers can look forward to a major showcase of Sodick’s latest technologies and automation solutions, with more details on the full lineup to be announced shortly.

“It’s been a fantastic year so far,” Peter concluded. “And we’re only just getting started.”
